Hi! I was wondering which are the best traffic sources for your webcomics. In my case, this are my best sources:

1) reddit.com (55.72%, 4,500 a month aprox.)
2) stumbleupon.com (7.40%, 610 a month aprox.)
3) facebook.com & m.facebook.com (1.5%, 123 a month aprox.)
4) twitter.com (0.38%, 30 a month aprox.)
5) imgur.com (0.28%, 23 a month aprox.)

I'm aware this is because those are the communities where I participate the most. But I wonder if there are more places worth to try.

My visits come from all over - no single source seems to dominate. I don't really participate in Twitter or Facebook, but I still manage to get hits from those sites anyway. My site has been around long enough (6.5 years now) that I think people find their way there through multiple means. When I advertise through Project Wonderful I see spikes, too, but again they're from everywhere. So I guess I don't know. Question

Wow! That's a lot of time! Surprised

How many years passed before you started receiving visits from everywhere?

I think it took about 4 years. In the first few years the site had pretty focused visitors, or at least visitor sources. As the comics sat out on the web longer and longer more people seemed to find them, which makes sense. But then image searches changed and we don't necessarily receive credit for image hits anymore. In any case, a few years ago is when I noticed visitors coming from all over the place.

There was a huge push a few years back where any and all webcomics seemed to invite interest and now things have settled somewhat. The overall visits seem to rise at a slower pace these days. But they still come from somewhere, somehow. It's harder to quit after building up 6 years of momentum... I'd hate to lose all of that, though the site by no means receives an enormous amount of traffic (though it would probably help if I promoted it a little more).

I guess, I'll give it some time then. My comic will be 1 year old this November.

I get a lot of Facebook traffic with occasional Tumblr spikes.

Mostly it's Facebook/Tumblr/Google Search/Comic Reading Sites

Last month, one of my essays got linked by TheOneRing.Net (the leading Hobbit/LOTR site). That dominated my traffic.

Normally, though, Reddit drives my traffic.

This is September:

TheOneRing: 3,631
Reddit: 1,624
Twitter: 1,320
Facebook: 408
Pintrest: 155
Google Search: 67

This is alltime (4/2012 to today)

Reddit: 33,122
Twitter: 9,103
TheOneRing: 3,631
Google: 3,011
Facebook: 2,515
StumbleUpon: 2,438
LOL: 1,857
Google+: 765
TheWebComicList: 227

(+ 320 other sources, all less than 500 visitors each)

Sorry... LOL = League of Legends. I draw a LOL-themed comic about 1-2 times a month, and it drives tons of traffic to my site (on reddit, I post in /comics, /webcomics, and then when the topic of the comic fits, /thehobbit, /lotr and /leagueoflegends.

Anyway, LOL = their general discussion forum, where I'll post links to my LOL-themed comics a couple times a month.

I was abbreviating to try and make the list look nice lol

All of my traffic comes from hobos being linked to my site by the voices in their heads.
