I'm making a an Hostess-style comic ad for my local barbershop. I want it to focus on straight-razor shaves. At the end the hero will get a shave "for a job well-done". I've been looking at the old Hostess ads. Batman (or whomever) defeats the villains by distracting them with delicious, fruit-filling, Hostess Fruit Pies. My problem is coming up with a shave-related crime the hero needs to bust.

My initial idea is a villain named "Hackjob" determined to give every man in town a bad shave using a GASP catridge razor. Maybe he's kidnapped a groom the day of or before his wedding... Grah! I don't know. I keep second-guessing myself.

Help, please!

Do something like Medusa but instead use a beard.

That would be Medusa from Inhumans btw.

As for related you can make it that he is giving people huge beards or so or even that he is making people that have beards commit crime depends how fast and big you want to do it but a simple ad it can be done fast.

The first one would also explain why the hero needs a shave

Vin Diesel has been captured by mobsters, who plan to hold him hostage until his hair grows in to show everyone that he is not bald, but rather he has hair and just pretends to be bald to impress everyone. OBJECTIVE: Infiltrate enemy base, shave Vin Diesel, get to extraction point.

Although, as I recall the Hostess ads, most of the time the actual crime they were comitting wasn't related to fruit pies, they were trying to rob a bank or something and Captain America would throw fruit pies at them and they'd give up or something. You could work this into an action scene, I guess, where the character gets in a fight with them only for the bad guy to realize he's not fighting, he's getting a really great shave.

Both very good ideas. How about this: a villain has developed a shave gell that horribly disfigures faces?

You could always keep it simple and anthropomorphize a multi-blade cartridge razor, having him brag about how he's got the public snowed on his effectiveness.

Maybe The Nick or The GOTCHA stole a shaving mug and shaving brush, so the barbershop is helpless and can't shave people properly..?

What about a non-crime-fighting comic. Razors of the Lost Ark. Or maybe your hero can be some Dudley Do-right style character racing a Dick Dasterdly -style character to the Razor of Light (or whatever). The hero wants to bring the razor back to the barber shop so the barber can give great shaves to the local community, the bad guy wants to use it to power is Doom Machine or whatever. In the end the hero gets his shave, and the bad guy learns the value of a great barbershop shave.
